Lancaster music festival goes back in time..

Lancaster Music Festival has reversed the clock.

Festival will feature music that reflects on the Regency period (1822-1892), and wartime year (1942-1945).

Lancaster’s position in 1822 as a port saw it experience a boom. Many of Lancaster’s most famous buildings were built in that period.

Lancaster Music Festival will host events at the Judges’ Lodges. This historic hotel has hosted judges since 1826.

Matt Millership, also known as Tensheds, the Dandy Punk Prince, is a classically trained pianist and singer. Siqian Li (a Royal College of Music student and pianist) will be performing piano pieces from 1822 and earlier in the Priory on October 14. October 16th, Judges’ Lodgings (16 Oct) will host concerts featuring English folk songs and virtuoso violin performances from Laure Chen (a Royal College of Music student).

Organisers of music festivals hope that 1822 themed events will be popular with Bridgerton viewers. They encourage people to wear costumes, if they can.

Lancaster’s Market Square will host an afternoon of nostalgia for ENSA from the Forties on October 16th.

Lancaster Music Festival has teamed up with King’s Own Royal Regiment Museum Lancaster City Museums. Starting September 27, they will be displaying their 1942 – Hinge of Fate exhibit.

The Market Square events were organized by 13-18-year-olds who had attended workshops in the summer. They researched 1942’s music and dance and made comparisons.

Alfie Bridgens, Britain’s Got Talent Star and a City Museum ukulele teacher, will be performing at the 1942 Event in Market Square with his orchestra of ukuleles.

The Forties program also features The Billionaires and Lancaster Lindy Hop Circle. This program aims to imitate American music and dance bands.

Director of Lancaster Music Festival is Lucy Reynolds. She stated that the 1942 project was crucial because it allowed Lancaster Music Festival an innovative way to connect young people through a particular musical genre.

We were inspired by the music of the 1940s and the young people’s enthusiasm for vintage music.
